Time Appointments are recruiting on behalf of a leading transport business based in Felixstowe who are thrilled to be looking for a Traffic Operator to join their friendly team. Our client is looking for an experienced Traffic Operator to have the responsibility of the routing and planning of own vehicles.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Routing and planning of own vehicles and dedicated subcontracted haulage suppliers with consideration for delivery time, driving hour’s legislation and vehicle operating restrictions.
- Booking VBS slots in accordance with work requirements.
- Inputting data on the in-house system to create job files.
- Revenue rating customer jobs and cost rating haulage supplier’s work.
- Printing delivery notes.
- Spot sub-contracting work to other haulage suppliers.
- Dealing with clients and contractors by phone, and email.
- Liaison with customers to ascertain their requirements, booking of suitable transport, payment of charges and final delivery arrangements.
- General office admin as deemed necessary by Line Manager.
- On call for out of hours and weekends for own vehicles and suppliers.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Minimum of three years’ experience in the routing of containers.
- Transport experience is a necessity.
- The ability to be meticulous and consistent with close attention to detail.
- Computer literate with previous knowledge of Destin8 and the port VBS system.
- The ability to work under pressure is essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexible and adaptable with an excellent attitude to Customer Service.
