We are working on behalf of a global, award-winning business based in Ipswich that is currently seeking an Imports/Exports Operations Clerk to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established business and a forward-thinking team. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain further knowledge in the shipping and logistics industry.
To be considered for the role, applicants must have previous experience within import or export operations. It is imperative that you have excellent communication skills. Strong telephone skills are essential, along with experience using bespoke systems and working within a fast-paced environment. Due to the ever-changing market, this is an extremely varied role that will require you to react and adapt to change with ease.
Key Responsibilities:- Obtaining and issuing quotes on behalf of clients and overseas partners
- Processing new jobs using bespoke in-house systems
- Booking export shipments directly with shipping lines/carriers
- Undertaking customs entries and any accompanying transit/export documentation
- Tracking shipments following UK departure and updating clients accordingly
- Purchase and sales invoicing
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience within import or export operations
- Familiarity with CNS, Destin8, or other shipping systems
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- A high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- A positive and proactive attitude
