We have been instructed to recruit an experienced European Road Freight Operator to join our client’s Felixstowe operation. This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading independent transport company that prides itself on providing first-class European road haulage and international freight services to its clients.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:
- Proven experience working as a European Road Freight Forwarder, or similar experience within the industry
- Strong industry knowledge and technical expertise
- Good understanding of rates, customers, and suppliers within the European road freight sector
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Outstanding customer service skills, with a professional approach to both suppliers and customers
- Ability to work on own initiative, as well as part of a team
- An additional European language would be advantageous; however, it is not essential
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Arranging and managing European road freight shipments, including part loads and full loads
- Planning and coordinating trailer movements efficiently, ensuring collections and deliveries are monitored and completed appropriately
- Preparing accurate and competitive customer quotations
- Negotiating rates and service options with hauliers, agents, and European partners
- Managing and supporting a portfolio of customers, including liaising with and updating them throughout the shipment process and handling queries or issues as appropriate
- Building strong business relationships with customers, hauliers, and internal teams
- Ensuring all shipment details, costs, charges, and customer records are accurately maintained and updated
- Resolving delays, service issues, and supplier problems
