We are a long-established Timber Merchant delivering timber and associated supplies to builders, contractors, and the public. We have three branches in East Anglia. As part of our continuing growth, we are now seeking a Yard Person to join our team. Offering a friendly and team-based culture, we truly value our employees and recognise them as a vital factor in the quality of service that we provide.
The ideal applicant will have a driving licence, FLT experience, knowledge of timber products and be physically strong enough to carry timber products. The right person will be hard working and able to work in our very busy timber yard, have great organisational skills and be able to prioritise the day's workload effectively. They will have good numerical skills and will go the extra mile to ensure their customer receives their goods in the best condition and in a timely manner.
Main duties will be:
- Working within the timber yard
- Picking products and loading vehicles for delivery
- Receiving orders from suppliers and putting stock away
- Driving deliveries to customers
- Cutting timber
- Maintaining a tidy work area
- Assisting with unloading of deliveries and storage of stock
- Working using own initiative
- Safe use of FLT
- Daily checking machinery under the PUWER regs
- Stock taking
- Assisting the Yard Manager in route planning
You will be able to work effectively in your environment, ensuring that the area you are working in is kept in a safe and clean condition. You will be competent in mathematics and able to produce clear, legible, accurate yard tickets with pricing that will be processed by your colleagues. The pace is fast, our standards are high and we are proud of it. We work very hard to meet the needs of our loyal customers.
