We are seeking a skilled and experienced Wood Machinist to join our bespoke commercial joinery team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining woodworking machinery to manufacture high-quality bespoke joinery products for commercial projects. This role requires excellent attention to detail, a strong understanding of timber and sheet materials, and the ability to work accurately from technical drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate a range of woodworking machinery, including spindle moulders, panel saws, planers, edge banders, CNC machinery, and other specialist equipment.
- Manufacture bespoke joinery components to precise specifications and quality standards.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, cutting lists, and production schedules.
- Select appropriate timber and sheet materials for production requirements.
- Ensure all machined components meet dimensional and quality requirements.
- Carry out routine machine maintenance and report any faults or defects.
- Work closely with bench joiners, production supervisors, and project teams to meet production deadlines.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Adhere to all health and safety procedures, risk assessments, and company policies.
- Minimise material waste and maximise efficiency throughout the production process.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as a Wood Machinist within a joinery or woodworking manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of woodworking machinery and machining techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturing specifications.
- Good understanding of timber species, sheet materials, and joinery construction methods.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
