As a Technical Sales Specialist, you will be field-based in your assigned territory (Mid-Wales / Aberystwyth).
You will take full ownership of your territory by building trusted relationships with farmers and distributors, offering tailored, technical advice with a commercial approach, and driving the adoption of innovative solutions that deliver real results on farm – with a particular focus on grassland management and dairy production.
Responsibilities
- Farm Visits & Sales – Prospecting: cold calling on farms, building relationships and gaining sales.
- Territory Development: Drive and expand on-farm sales of our premium Fertilisers, Soil Conditioners, and Animal Nutrition/Welfare products.
- Retain existing business with regular visits to ensure products are performing as sold and provide farms with feedback on crop, soil and animal health. Grow business with other solutions that will give the farmers an ROI.
- Be analytical and data driven when recommending solutions or following up on farms.
- Conduct on-farm trials of products to demonstrate value of yours and Timac’s products.
- Conduct soil sampling on farms in a timely manner, following the TIMAC AGRO UK value proposition.
- Present the results within a Nutrient Management Plan to each farmer, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements.
- CRM – Ensure your CRM is updated regularly with detailed notes of on-farm discussions and farm account activity.
- Communication – Be confident in communicating with farmers and different types of people. Be able to work independently and be self-motivated, but also share successes with colleagues and support others within the wider TAUK team. Communicate well with other businesses and distributors, develop the relationship and leverage this to grow the territory.
- Self-motivation – Find solutions to problems and identify new ways to drive territory growth.
Person specification
- You will need to have a good understanding of Grassland and Dairy.
- FACTS qualified (or be willing to work towards this).
- Ability to work independently in a field-based sales role.
- Well networked with a thorough understanding of the advertised territory.
- Farmer-focused approach – deeply understand customer needs, provide practical solutions using TAUK’s product portfolio, and maintain a strong, hands-on presence across your territory in this fully field-based role.
- Results-driven mindset – motivated by solving on-farm challenges and confident selling across a diverse product portfolio while working towards clear sales KPIs.
- Commercial experience – successful background in sales within the farming/agricultural industry.
- Proficient in using CRM software and other sales tools.
- A full UK Driving Licence.
