As we look ahead to a busy expansion plan across the country, we are looking for a Technical Assistant to join the team. The role will sit in the QA/Technical department, whilst helping maintain the highest standards of food safety and compliance. This is a unique opportunity to work across both departments, developing new skills and contributing to our success.

Candidate Profile

  • Excellent English reading and writing skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Strong computer literacy - e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Teams – ability to create documents, tables, graphs & work in spreadsheets (including formulas).
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • At least 1 years’ relevant experience working within food production within a technical or quality role, can be through a placement.
  • Degree qualified in food science or equivalent.
  • Food Safety Level 2 Qualification.
  • Qualification in HACCP.
  • Previous experience of using online specification systems.
  • Working knowledge of Allergen Management and Labelling/Artwork.
  • Previous experience of using retailer specification systems.
  • Uses initiative to complete tasks independently.
  • Proactive, with strong problem‑solving skills.
  • A passion for the Tim Hortons brand.
  • Sound communication, being confident with internal + external stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

  • Generate and update allergen & nutrition data for finished products.
  • Maintain information on RBI spec portal.
  • Keep up to date with correct suppliers and ingredients.
  • Liaising with suppliers to ensure technical information is completed to the correct standard.
  • Proofread technical documents i.e. specifications & artwork to ensure accuracy.
  • Manage complaints, maintain the log, identify and investigate the root cause for any non‑conformances and complaints with suppliers and restaurants, trend analysis, send out complaints data.
  • Write weekly complaints/quality report, published in our Tim’s Memo Mailer.
  • Support operations in investigating and responding to customer complaints.
  • Create product/raw material documentation in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and using online systems.
  • Update databases and website information e.g. maintain the products on the TH website.
  • Answer internal and external technical queries.
  • Support on training programs, health and safety and food safety practices.
  • Work with L&D and Operations in restaurants to create and improve Ops procedures.
  • Update and maintain products on the RBI system.
  • Support the conducting of taste panels, trials and reporting of results.
  • Establish robust QAS documents with supplier.
  • Maintain supplier contact information.
  • Document control.
  • Generate new documents for HACCP and Quality Manual.
  • Coordinate yearly swabbing exercise, reporting of results and corrective actions.

Department administration (as required):

  • Support the departments with daily maintenance of all related data and working documents.
  • Writing procedures and preparing presentations.
  • Prepare and send samples.
  • Arrange couriers.
  • Arrange lab tests.
  • Any other duties as reasonably requested by the business which may not be part of your day‑to‑day role.

Role location

The role is full‑time and permanent, and is office‑based in Wolverhampton, at WV11 1XR. Candidate will be required to travel to our restaurant locations across the UK as required.
