Join a business transforming its technology landscape. Technology is becoming a central pillar of this organisation's future growth strategy, and they're looking for an Infrastructure Support Engineer to help drive that journey forward.

This isn't a role where you'll spend your days simply reacting to support tickets. Instead, you'll become part of a growing internal IT team that's actively improving systems, strengthening infrastructure, and delivering projects that have a visible impact across the business.

With significant investment being made into infrastructure, cloud services, security, and operational resilience, this is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a blend of support, project delivery, and continuous improvement.

What you'll be doing

Working alongside senior IT leadership and third-party technology partners, you'll help support and enhance a diverse technology estate spanning on-premise and cloud environments. Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1st, 2nd and 3rd line technical support across users, systems and infrastructure
  • Supporting and maintaining Windows Server environments and Microsoft 365 services
  • Managing endpoint technologies and user devices across the organisation
  • Administering Active Directory, user permissions and access controls
  • Monitoring infrastructure performance, backups, patching and system availability
  • Supporting networking services including DNS, DHCP and core connectivity
  • Maintaining virtualised environments using VMware and Hyper-V
  • Assisting with infrastructure upgrades, migrations and technology refresh projects
  • Supporting security initiatives, compliance activities and best-practice standards
  • Contributing to service improvements and helping transition projects into operational support

Why consider this role?

This position offers far more than traditional infrastructure support. You'll gain exposure to:

  • Large-scale infrastructure enhancement programmes
  • Cloud and hybrid technology environments
  • Modern endpoint management tools
  • Security-focused improvement initiatives
  • Business-critical technology projects
  • Opportunities to influence future technology decisions

The organisation offers a supportive environment where ideas are welcomed, improvement is encouraged, and technical development is genuinely invested in.

Skills and experience

We're keen to speak with candidates who have experience supporting a broad Microsoft infrastructure environment and who enjoy working across multiple technical disciplines. You'll ideally have experience with:

  • Windows Server administration
  • Microsoft 365
  • VMware and/or Hyper-V
  • Intune and SCCM
  • Active Directory
  • DNS and DHCP
  • Endpoint and device management
  • Infrastructure support and maintenance
  • ITIL-aligned service environments
  • Infrastructure upgrades, deployments or migration projects
  • System monitoring, patching and security best practices

About you

You'll be a proactive problem-solver who enjoys taking ownership, identifying improvements, and delivering lasting solutions rather than quick fixes. Strong communication skills, a collaborative approach, and a genuine interest in technology improvement will be just as important as your technical expertise.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting time to join the organisation as its internal technology function continues to evolve. You'll have the chance to work on meaningful projects, broaden your infrastructure expertise, and contribute to shaping the future direction of IT within a stable and growing business.

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
