With a newly appointed IT leadership team and a clear focus on infrastructure resilience, cyber security and scalable technology, this role offers the chance to play a genuinely strategic part in shaping the future estate rather than simply maintaining existing systems. You'll lead and contribute to modernisation initiatives, infrastructure upgrades, migration projects and cyber resilience improvements, while still remaining hands-on technically across core infrastructure technologies. If you enjoy ownership, solving problems properly and building environments that are secure, scalable and future-ready, this role offers the autonomy and visibility to make a real impact.
What's in it for you?
- A key role within a growing and evolving internal technology function

- A broad technical environment spanning infrastructure, networking, cloud and endpoint management
- Hands-on work across Windows Server, Intune, Entra ID, networking and security tooling
- Real influence over infrastructure standards, resilience and operational maturity
- Hybrid working with strong work/life balance
- Long-term progression opportunities as the technology function continues to grow
- Supportive leadership with genuine investment in systems, people and innovation
The role
Working closely with the IT Director and wider technology partners, you'll take ownership of core infrastructure services, ensuring they remain secure, resilient and scalable while supporting ongoing business growth and transformation. This is a hands-on infrastructure engineering role with a strong focus on operational improvement, cyber resilience and modernisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading infrastructure upgrades, migrations and modernisation initiatives
- Supporting and improving Windows Server environments
- Managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy
- Supporting Intune and Entra ID environments
- Managing patching, vulnerability remediation and infrastructure governance
- Maintaining backup, disaster recovery and business continuity processes
- Supporting networking technologies including firewalls, VLANs and VPNs
- Driving Cyber Essentials Plus aligned controls and security hardening
- Establishing proactive monitoring and infrastructure maintenance processes
- Supporting virtualised and hybrid infrastructure environments
- Automating and streamlining administration through PowerShell and scripting
- Acting as an escalation point for infrastructure incidents when required
What they're looking for
You'll likely come from a broad infrastructure or systems engineering background and enjoy working across both operational support and strategic improvement projects. Experience in the following would be valuable:
- Windows Server administration
- Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy
- Intune and Entra ID
- Infrastructure migrations and transformation projects
- Patch management and vulnerability remediation
- Networking technologies including firewalls, VLANs and VPNs
- Cyber Essentials Plus or security-focused environments
- Backup and disaster recovery solutions
- PowerShell scripting or automation
- VMware and/or Hyper-V
- Azure or hybrid cloud environments
- Endpoint security and vulnerability tooling
Most importantly, they're looking for someone proactive, pragmatic and improvement-focused who enjoys taking ownership and building environments that are robust, secure and scalable.
Why this opportunity stands out
This business is investing heavily in technology, cyber resilience and infrastructure maturity, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond BAU support and play a visible role in shaping a future-ready environment.
