Derbyshire | Hybrid Working (60/40) £35,000 - £40,000 + benefits
Build, improve, and modernise technology that genuinely matters. This is not a reset passwords and close tickets support role. It's an opportunity to join a well-established UK business investing heavily in its technology estate, infrastructure resilience, and long-term digital capability. With a newly appointed IT leadership team and significant modernisation projects underway, this role offers the chance to become a key part of a growing internal technology function at a genuinely exciting point in its journey.
You’ll work across everything from day-to-day support and infrastructure maintenance through to upgrades, migrations, security improvements, and cloud-focused projects. If you enjoy variety, ownership, and solving problems properly rather than applying temporary fixes, you’ll thrive here. The environment is collaborative, practical, and improvement-focused, with the backing of experienced leadership and a business that continues to invest in systems, people, and innovation.
What’s in it for you?
- Exposure to infrastructure modernisation and transformation projects
- Opportunity to deepen your cloud, infrastructure and security expertise
- Hands-on work across Windows Server, virtualisation, networking and endpoint technologies
- Exposure to technologies including VMware, Hyper-V, Intune, SCCM, DNS, DHCP and patch management
- A business investing in technology and continuous improvement
- Hybrid working model with strong work/life balance
- Supportive leadership and a genuinely varied technical environment
- Clear progression opportunities as the IT function evolves
- The chance to influence how technology services are delivered moving forward
The role
Working closely with the IT Director and external technology partners, you’ll provide multi-level support across end-user technology, servers, networking and business applications while helping deliver ongoing infrastructure improvements. You’ll also play a key role in maintaining service quality during a period of growth and change.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering 1st line, 2nd line and 3rd line support across the business
- Supporting Windows environments, end-user devices and business-critical systems
- Maintaining servers, networking, storage and infrastructure platforms
- Managing monitoring, patching, backups and system health checks
- Supporting cloud and on-premise environments
- Supporting migrations, upgrades and infrastructure deployments
- Assisting with security controls, access management and compliance initiatives
- Supporting virtualised environments using VMware and/or Hyper-V
- Working on change management and continuous improvement activities
- Supporting the transition of new technologies into BAU support
What they’re looking for
You’ll probably already have experience in a broad IT support, infrastructure or systems environment and enjoy working across multiple technologies rather than being siloed. Experience in the following would be valuable:
- Windows Server administration
- Microsoft 365 environments
- VMware and/or Hyper-V
- Intune and SCCM
- DNS, DHCP and networking fundamentals
- Endpoint management and device support
- Active Directory and access control
- ITIL/service-led support environments
- Infrastructure projects, upgrades or migrations
- Security best practice, patching and system monitoring
Most importantly, they’re looking for someone who is proactive, collaborative and genuinely enjoys improving systems and services rather than simply maintaining them.
Why this opportunity stands out
The business is at a genuine turning point technologically, making this an ideal move for someone who wants more than BAU support work. You’ll gain hands-on exposure to projects, modernisation initiatives and scalable infrastructure design while working in a stable, established organisation with ambitious plans for the future.
