We are looking for a Senior Business Development Manager who will play a significant part in the growth strategy by forming relationships with prospective customers and converting them successfully into happy customers. This role is both technically and commercially focused and if you like holding complex conversations with senior levels up to and including the C-Suite, this role is right up your street. The role holds solid technical knowledge of the product and uses this knowledge to help customers to design and quantify their decisions.

The Senior Business Development Manager will be responsible for sourcing and winning net new brands to join the Tillo portfolio. The role involves end-to-end management of the sales process, including:

  • Identifying brand-appropriate targets
  • Lead generation
  • ABM campaign support for the Marketing team
  • Event attendance
  • Follow-up
  • Pitching
  • Proposals
  • Contract negotiation
  • Closing sales

Build and nurture relationships across all relevant industry networks to support the growth of Tillo’s presence in the market and pay close attention to retail news to ensure the brand target list remains relevant and lucrative.

Day to day this role will involve:

  • Sourcing and winning net new brands (as per our ICP) to join the Tillo portfolio
  • Focusing on securing brands with strong retail presence in some of our key markets with a focus on UK & Europe, keeping a keen eye on opportunities in new markets as well
  • Leading by example in generating new leads and contacts, always following up new business opportunities and delivering to targets
  • Identifying new sales and revenue opportunities across the retail and payments industry
  • Building and nurturing relationships with key industry networks to maintain inbound referrals
  • Maintaining extensive knowledge of current market conditions in our key markets (UK, USA, Europe) and communicating new developments and changes to prospective and current clients
  • Identifying and attending conferences and exhibitions in order to network with prospective clients and assess how Tillo can use these events to their advantage in the future
  • Developing and applying commercial modelling and forecasting to assess the value of new opportunities, ensuring proposals are commercially viable and aligned to Tillo’s growth strategy
  • Leading negotiations with prospective partners to secure commercially advantageous agreements that drive sustainable revenue growth

Reporting into the Head of Retail Partnerships and ensuring they are updated regularly on progress to report back to the wider Tillo Senior Leadership Team on a weekly basis.

What we’re looking for

Essential:

  • Proven experience in business development or sales
  • Strong networking abilities, with experience attending and leveraging industry events
  • Proficiency in using CRM tools like HubSpot
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a knack for building and maintaining relationships
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to think on the spot
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently while also being a collaborative team player
  • Commercially minded and confident liaising and negotiating at all levels

Desirable:

  • Experience in engaging with international markets
  • Experience selling to brands/retailers
  • Experience in the gift card industry
