If you’re the kind of person who loves working on complex commercial deals, negotiating, solving problems, thriving on variety, and want to play a key role in shaping how we work, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re growing fast, we’re the leader in digital gift cards and we’re expanding internationally. We need someone who can use smart legal thinking by balancing risks with commercial opportunities. You’ll get to work on everything from commercial contracts with well‑known brands to managing our legal tech processes that scale as we grow.
This is a hybrid role where you would be expected to work from our London or Hove office twice a week with attendance expected in both. Our Hove office is right next to the train station where there are direct (and quiet!) trains from/to London in just over an hour and our London office is a stone’s throw away from London Bridge train station. The rest of the time, you can work remotely or wherever you feel most productive.
As our Commercial Legal Counsel, you’ll be paramount to the success of the company and a key member of the legal department, with high levels of ownership, autonomy and managing key stakeholders across the globe. You’ll be primarily responsible for reviewing, drafting and negotiating Tillo’s commercial contracts from inception to signing, as well as developing Tillo’s contracting strategy by updating our templates, drafting new ones and horizon scanning. Along the way, you’ll help us find clever ways to make our processes faster and smarter, including using tools like AI to work more effectively.
Day to day this role will:
- Draft, negotiate, and review a variety of contracts, collaborating with our Legal Counsel and other teams across the business – from contracts with our gift card buyers, to business supplier agreements, to contracts with the world’s biggest brands that source gift cards from Tillo.
- Develop our contracting strategy, including playbooks and legal tech/AI tools to make things easier for everyone.
- Maintain our contract templates in line with Tillo’s international expansion across different products.
- Support our US, UK and Australia Commercial teams by being their trusted advisor for day‑to‑day legal and business queries involving our resale and SaaS provision solutions.
- Provide product counselling, from IP to regulatory assessments.
- Support our risk management strategy and help us adapt this as the company evolves.
- Jump into other projects when needed, like helping us with our ambitious international expansion plans.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest legal and regulatory developments affecting Tillo and deliver training to the teams.

- You have strong experience in contract drafting and interpretation.
- You are formidable at negotiating, particularly with challenging counterparties.
- You can build relationships with and manage key stakeholders across the business globally.
- You’re pragmatic and know how to balance legal risks with commercial realities.
- You’re excited about using technology to make legal processes better and faster.
- You stay calm under pressure and are happy juggling different priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Desirable:
- As a nice to have, you have experience in corporate law and understand the M&A lifecycle.
- You have exposure to data protection (e.g. GDPR), commercial regulatory matters, or payment/financial services regulation relevant to fintech.
