About the Role

Engineering Manager to lead delivery within the Brands & Integrations team, with a focus on scaling integrations, reducing support overhead, and applying AI to improve engineering workflows.

Location: Cape Town or Hove, hybrid work model with regular office connection.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery across the Brands & Integrations team, ensuring clarity of priorities and reliable execution across integrations and product initiatives.
  • Partner closely with Product to shape initiatives into clear milestones and delivery plans.
  • Improve how integrations scale across processors, aggregators, and brand partners through better tooling and repeatable approaches.
  • Reduce operational and support overhead by introducing automation and improving engineering workflows.
  • Identify high‑leverage opportunities for AI adoption across delivery, documentation, and support‑related work.
  • Run lightweight prototypes and experiments to test AI‑enabled solutions before wider rollout.
  • Coach and support engineers to maintain strong technical standards and sustainable delivery pace.
  • Translate business priorities into clear engineering sequencing and timelines.
  • Communicate progress, trade‑offs, and delivery risks clearly to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with teams across Engineering, Product, Commercial and Operations to support integration‑led growth.
  • Support hiring and development of engineers within the team as the function evolves.
  • Ensure solutions remain secure, scalable, and aligned with platform standards including ISO 27001 practices.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading engineering teams within a scaled software environment or a scale‑up moving into a growth‑phase delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI in engineering delivery environments, such as introducing AI workflows, running prototypes, or improving delivery speed and quality through automation.
  • Strong delivery leadership with the ability to sequence work and maintain momentum across competing priorities.
  • Confidence working across integration‑heavy technical domains.
  • Experience partnering closely with Product Managers on roadmap shaping and execution planning.
  • A collaborative leadership style with strong communication and stakeholder alignment skills.
  • A pragmatic problem‑solving approach and comfort working with incomplete information.
  • Experience supporting secure engineering practices aligned with modern application security expectations.
  • Experience working within PHP (Laravel) and Vue.js (Nuxt.js) environments, with confidence contributing to technical direction in these stacks.
  • Familiarity with API‑first platforms and integration‑led product environments is helpful.
  • Fintech experience is beneficial but not required.
