As the largest integrated forestry business in the UK, and a member of Binderholz, Europe's leading timber processing operation, BSW Group is a rapidly developing multi-site business, with operations spanning forestry, sawmilling, timber manufacturing and energy.
We have an exciting opportunity for you to be a key member of our forestry team based in Earlston, in the role of Forest Manager. In this role you will be responsible for delivering a professional, high-quality woodland management and forestry contracting service to existing and new clients. The role will involve building and maintaining professional client, supplier, contractor, and stakeholder relationships, the preparation of client budgets, reports and the implementation and management of work programmes and grant applications.
The position will cover managing existing productive forestry and forestry operations as well as the opportunity to work on the planning and implementation of new woodland creation projects. Key to your success in the role will be working with local teams, including forestry, business development, forest investment and harvesting to manage and grow a successful portfolio of forestry clients, delivering quality forest management and maximizing the quality of the client experience.
The success of the South Scotland team is down to the diversity of clients with which we engage, which includes estates, private forestry investors and investment funds, individual and family farms, charitable organisations, utility companies and local authorities.
As an experienced forestry professional, with a background in forestry (or other related sector), you are able to demonstrate your strong commercial acumen and ability to build and maintain strong working relationships. Strong commercial and client relationship skills are essential.
Good knowledge of the UK Forester Standard and UKWAS is required. Good knowledge of Forestry Grant Schemes is desirable. Professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters or another relevant professional body is desirable. A full UK driving licence is required.
