Deliver a once-in-a-generation transformation
At a time when regions across the UK are being asked to define their economic futures, Cornwall is answering with real ambition. At the heart of Cornwall’s response lies Cornwall Airport Newquay. The airport is a critical gateway to the South West and home to one of the UK’s most exciting development opportunities.
As the airport delivers on a bold new masterplan encompassing an operational airport, a growing commercial estate, a future-focused spaceport, and over 200 acres of developable land, it is seeking an outstanding Estate and Development Director to lead the strategy and growth of this nationally significant site.
This role is about more than managing land and buildings. It is about helping to shape the future of place and innovation in Cornwall and beyond. It is about stewarding public assets with vision and commercial rigor. And it is about unlocking long-term value for Cornwall Council and its residents, as well as investors, tenants, businesses, and strategic partners across the UK.
The Estate and Development Director will sit at the heart of the airport’s senior leadership team, reporting directly to the Managing Director and operating with significant autonomy and influence. They will be responsible for delivering a clear estate strategy that aligns with Cornwall’s wider economic and environmental goals whilst also delivering high-impact projects that bring an investible strategy to life.
The role will span operational and commercial real estate with oversight of land management, facilities management, compliance, lease negotiation, and major infrastructure development. It will also require strong leadership of internal teams and external consultants, and a high degree of engagement with tenants, investors, developers, local authorities, and central government stakeholders.
We are looking for a senior leader with deep experience in estate strategy, land development, or large-scale infrastructure delivery. Someone who thrives on complexity, brings a sharp commercial mindset, and has a strong sense of place and purpose.
Cornwall Airport Newquay is not standing still. With Spaceport Cornwall attracting global interest, new tenants arriving, and Cornwall Council backing a long-term vision of sustainable economic growth, the conditions are right and the moment is now.
This is a leadership role for someone who wants to make a mark. Someone who want to take the potential of this site and turn it into a catalyst for regional and national transformation.
