Are you ready to lead one of London's most high-profile and ambitious Building Control services? H&F is seeking an outstanding Assistant Director of Building Control to drive excellence, innovation, and safety across a borough experiencing significant growth and transformation.

About the role: This is a unique opportunity to lead a well-established and respected Building Control team in the heart of London. With the borough set to host the HS2 station and a wealth of high-profile developments, H&F is a dynamic, London borough with exceptional growth potential. As Assistant Director of Building Control, you will oversee a dedicated team of professionals ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and innovation. Your leadership will be instrumental in managing diverse challenges, from large-scale regeneration projects to heritage conservation.

You will work closely with developers, architects, and the new Building Safety Regulator, playing a pivotal role in shaping the built environment while ensuring the highest standards of fire and structural safety. You will be responsible for the full range of statutory building control functions, including the implementation of the Building Safety Act, dangerous structures, and safety at sports grounds. Your remit will include ensuring the borough has the required number of Registered Building Inspectors, overseeing temporary structure licences, and collecting the Building Safety Levy.

As a key strategic leader, you will also advise on major planning applications, ensure compliance with new carbon reduction policies, and contribute to wider corporate objectives. Working closely with senior officers in a politically led organisation, you will need to navigate the complexities of public sector governance.
