As the business moves forward, there is a growing need for legal support and an opportunity has arisen for a Solicitor Apprentice to join the team of four lawyers. This is an opportunity to be part of a small but strong legal team at the very heart of the business where you will gain hands-on legal experience in construction law, contract law and disputes. You will also develop a commercial awareness which only comes from working in-house directly with stakeholders across the business, all whilst studying towards a fully funded SQE qualification.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assist in reviewing contractual terms and conditions for a range of contracts, both bespoke and construction industry standard forms;
  • Support on contract negotiation and drafting amendments to contracts under supervision;
  • Assist in updating precedent contract forms;
  • Prepare guidance notes and legal newsletters for the business;
  • Conduct legal research and prepare summaries and draft documentation;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business in providing legal services;
  • Maintain document management systems and legal resources on the legal team’s intranet page;
  • Assist in arranging internal training sessions and preparing training materials for staff.

What we’re looking for:

  • A qualifying law degree or other undergraduate degree and GDL, having been completed in the last 5 years with a 2:2 or above in your undergraduate degree; OR significant work experience as a paralegal, which could include being part way through undertaking the CILEX;
  • A-Levels (typically ABB or equivalent), or a relevant Level 3 qualification;
  • Eligibility to enrol on a Solicitor Apprenticeship programme (leading to SQE);
  • Strong interest in construction and commercial law;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and willing to learn new software tools and skills;
  • Proactive and confident working in an office environment.

What we offer:

  • Fully funded tuition and time to study towards the SQE;
  • You will be enrolled with an industry recognised provider to provide you with the necessary course study with the aim of passing the SQE and following completion of the requisite work experience qualifying as a solicitor;
  • Mentoring and support from experienced commercial professionals;
  • Competitive apprentice salary with progression as you develop;
  • 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays;
  • Two days volunteering opportunities per year;
  • Opportunities to work on diverse and meaningful projects across the UK;
  • An inclusive culture where your ideas and contributions make a real difference.
