We have an immediate and exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join our Regional Building team Yorkshire. We are looking for an individual who wants to take the next step in their career and build on their existing experience. The initial posting is for the delivery of our award of a primary school scheme in circa Β£13.5m in York, commencing March 2026. The scheme is a further success in our ongoing DFE framework, an important and ongoing strategic relationship. Ideally you could be situated in York, Leeds, Sheffield, Doncaster areas and flexible to travel to site.
Reporting into the Project Contracts Manager, you will be an established Senior Project Manager who will be working as the project lead on the scheme, with the responsibility for the management and delivery of the project. You will have responsibility for the project operational management team under your direct control. We need someone who can lead and manage projects, ensuring they are fully resourced and delivered safely, on time and within budget to high quality client specifications. You will be a proactive, creative, and logical individual with a solution-focused outlook. You must be competent working in a busy, pressured environment and be able to meet tight deadlines. On completion of the above project, you will be allocated to new projects within the Yorkshire region.
What you will be doing:
- Maintaining effective and long-term relationships with the DFE and their representatives/advisors.
- Implementing and maintaining Tilbury Douglas Strategy and Policies for Sustainability, Health and Safety, Quality, Environmental, Training and Development etc. and acting as an exemplar of the Tilbury Douglas culture and values.
- Ensuring the project team comply with the Companies Integrated Management System.
- Being proactive in the identification and resolution of problems and developing mitigation strategies.
- Reviewing methods of working, alternative materials etc to maximise commercial profitability whilst maintaining quality.
- Reviewing and challenging our delivery programmes to maintain or better the programme position.
- Work alongside our supporting disciplines β Planning, design management, commercial and document control to achieve the best project outcomes.
- Managing, supporting, mentoring, and counselling members of the project team in their personal development.
- Undertaking annual assessments for staff directly reporting to the role.
- Seeking and developing ongoing continuous improvement of both our processes and colleagues alike.
- Providing aftercare services to the customer.
- To support and be familiar with your own role and responsibilities in respect of Business Continuity Planning.
- Ensuring that team members are also aware of the plans and communicates same.
- Any other duties relevant to the role.
What we will need from you:
- CITB Level 3 Safety Course.
- Appropriate CSCS Card.
- Degree (or equivalent) in appropriate subject.
- Professional Qualification (desirable).
- Experience in a similar role.
- Experience running projects as a βnumber 1β above Β£10M in value.
- High level of leadership and management skills.
- Commercial and financial awareness.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Technical experience and knowledge.
- Ability to plan and organise resources to meet tight deadlines.
