As the business moves forward there is a growing need for legal support and an opportunity has arisen for a Paralegal to join the team of four lawyers. This is an opportunity to be part of a small but strong legal team at the very heart of the business where you will gain hands‑on legal experience in construction law, contract law and disputes. You will also develop a commercial awareness which only comes from working in‑house directly with stakeholders across the business.

This role will be based in our T3, Birmingham office where you’ll work within our Legal Team, flexibility to travel across sites will be required as part of your development. There will be a mix of on‑site and remote working required as part of the role.

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to one of our Senior Legal Counsels you will:

  • Assist in reviewing contractual terms and conditions for a range of contracts, both bespoke and construction industry standard forms;
  • Support on contract negotiation and drafting amendments to contracts under supervision;
  • Assist in updating precedent contract forms;
  • Prepare guidance notes and legal newsletters for the business;
  • Conduct legal research and prepare summaries and draft documentation;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business in providing legal services;
  • Maintain document management systems and legal resources on the legal team’s intranet page;
  • Assist in arranging internal training sessions and preparing training materials for staff.

What we’re looking for

We want to hear from people who are passionate about making a difference through construction and the built environment. You’ll bring:

  • Either (desirable but not essential):
    • A qualifying law degree or other undergraduate degree and GDL. The qualifying law degree or GDL having been completed in the last 5 years. You must have a 2:2 or above in your undergraduate degree. OR
    • Significant work experience as a paralegal. This could include where you are part way through undertaking the CILEX.
  • A-Levels (typically ABB or equivalent), or a relevant Level 3 qualification.
  • Strong interest in construction and commercial law.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and willing to learn new software tools and skills.
  • Proactive and confident working in an office environment
  • Understanding of AI and its uses to improve efficiencies in the workplace.

  • Practical legal experience and professional development within a supportive in‑house legal team.
  • This is a standalone paralegal role and does not include any automatic entitlement to a solicitor apprenticeship or training contract. However, for the right candidate who performs well, the business may in future consider supporting progression through a solicitor apprenticeship or training contract. If applicable the solicitor apprentice route would include fully funded tuition and time to study towards the SQE. You would be enrolled with an industry recognised provider to provide you with the necessary course study with the aim of passing the SQE and following completion of the requisite work experience qualifying as a solicitor. Any such opportunity is not guaranteed and would be entirely at the business’s discretion, subject to the candidate satisfying the applicable qualification and eligibility requirements, continued satisfactory performance, business needs and the availability of an appropriate position.
