We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and highly competent Bid Writer to join our team. The successful candidate will take ownership of writing compelling, construction-specific responses for pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs), frameworks, and tender submissions. This role is deadline-driven and requires excellent coordination, planning, multi-tasking, and time management skills. You will be expected to produce accurate, persuasive, and client-focused responses that stand out for their professionalism and quality. A key part of the role is to continuously improve submission content and “raise the bar” with every bid.
What you will be doing:
- Write and edit high-quality, tailored responses for PQQs, frameworks, and tender submissions.
- Analyse and interpret client documents to fully understand requirements.
- Research and draft construction and client-focused responses with technical accuracy.
- Interview subject matter experts to extract and shape bid content.
- Collaborate with the wider bid team to ensure consistency, accuracy, and client focus.
- Proofread and edit submissions to the highest standards of grammar, tone, and professionalism.
- Carry out client, project, and market research to strengthen and tailor responses.
- Attend site visits or client meetings as needed to inform submissions.
- Suggest improvements, innovations, and best practice to strengthen bids and processes.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and the continuous improvement of written materials.
- Ensure compliance with internal processes and contribute to business continuity planning.
What we need from you:
- Proven experience producing successful PQQs, frameworks, and tender submissions in the construction sector.
- Strong knowledge of construction industry terminology, processes, and client expectations.
- Excellent written English with outstanding grammar, spelling, and attention to detail.
- Confident interviewer with the ability to turn technical input into compelling narratives.
- Highly organised, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong IT skills (essential) with knowledge of bid writing and graphic design tools (e.g., InDesign, Quark, Visio – desirable).
- Relevant qualifications in Bid Writing, English, Journalism, Marketing, or related fields (desirable).
