Responsibilities

  • As a project intern, you will have the opportunity to engage in impactful short-term projects that provide you with a glimpse of professional real-world experience.
  • You will gain practical skills through on-the-job learning in a fast-paced work environment and develop a deeper understanding of your career interests.
  • Successful candidates must be able to commit to at least 3 months long internship period.
  • The Societal Safety unit ensures that our monetization practices do not contribute to societal harm.
  • Conduct research on societal safety issues, such as misinformation, minor safety, election interference, violence, and emerging harms, to support policy and enforcement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Legal, Public Policy, Trust & Safety, Product, and Transparency & Compliance to support integrity-focused projects and workflows.
  • Assist in monitoring integrity metrics, surfacing trends, and flagging anomalies that may indicate risks to platform safety.
  • Help develop and maintain clear documentation, including project briefs, internal guidance, and cross-team updates.
  • Support the review of safety-related incidents and escalations, assisting in root cause analysis and trend identification.
  • Contribute to the creation of internal tooling, dashboards, or other systems that support risk mitigation and response.
  • Assist the Societal Safety team in driving forward wider integrity initiatives related to elections, harmful behavior, and information quality.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or above.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights.
  • Experience working with data, familiarity with data science tools is a strong plus.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and managing multiple priorities.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented with a strong sense of responsibility and ethics; experience in project management is a plus.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated interest in societal safety topics, policy, or platform governance topics or familiarity with digital risk landscapes (e.g. coordinated inauthentic behavior, information warfare, abuse at scale).
