Overview
In this UK-focused role, you will oversee policy monitoring, analysis, and engagement on privacy, data protection, national security, cyber security, and related platform issues. You will craft evidence-based policy positions and materials, track developments, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate, operational policy stances. You will cultivate high-level relationships with policymakers, regulators, and industry bodies to advance TikTok’s position with credibility. You will represent the company in external forums and help manage reputational and regulatory risks. Responsibilities
- Lead policy monitoring, analysis, and engagement on priority UK issues (privacy, data protection, national security, cyber security, illicit activity, copyright, platform integrity)
- Develop clear, evidence-based policy positions, briefings, consultation inputs, and engagement materials
- Track UK legislative, regulatory, and political developments and identify risks and recommended actions
- Collaborate with Legal, Security, Trust & Safety, Product, Communications, and regional policy teams to align UK policy positions
- Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, regulators, think tanks, trade associations, and civil society
- Leverage political networks to engage parliamentarians and officials on high-salience issues
- Represent TikTok in external meetings, roundtables, and stakeholder discussions to explain policy positions and build trust
- Support engagement with data protection, security, platform integrity, IP, and digital policy communities
- Identify reputational, legislative, and regulatory risks early and contribute to coordinated response strategies
Key requirements
- Significant experience in public policy, government relations, regulatory affairs, or related field
- Strong understanding of UK policy-making and regulatory processes and impact on technology platforms
- Experience on complex policy issues including privacy, data protection, cyber security, national security, IP, online harms, platform governance
- Ability to translate technical, legal, or operational issues into clear policy arguments and stakeholder materials
- Experience engaging credibly with policymakers, regulators, and industry bodies on sensitive issues
- Strong political instinct and an established UK political network
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including briefing, consultation responses, talking points, and internal advice
