About the team: The Europe Tax team is building to work with other corporate functions on tax advisory, planning, structuring, and tax controversy.
We ensure compliance with direct (corporate income tax) and indirect tax and solve tax related issues.
Tik Tok is seeking an enthusiastic VAT Compliance Manager to join the Tax team in London to support its rapid business growth in Europe.
The ideal candidate has solid VAT compliance experience in indirect tax in the UK and across the EU and possesses strong technical and analytical skills in order to ensure that accurate filings are made on time.
The role requires an individual that has a keen eye for detail whilst having a big picture mindset, is proactive and accountable in driving process improvement changes and can communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage EU VAT compliance submissions.
- Work closely with outsourced tax compliance service providers to provide data and support with the preparation, review and submission of indirect tax filings.
- Ensure that business developments that impact VAT reporting are appropriately reflected in VAT filings.
- Assess and review emerging VAT registration requirements.
- Liaise with the VAT advisory managers to understand and consider transactions that may impact VAT reporting.
This includes monitoring ongoing changes in indirect tax legislation in countries across the region (e. g.
VAT rates) and sharing knowledge so that it can be applied in practice.
- Assist with ensuring that all indirect tax processes are documented in writing.
- Assist the team with process improvement initiatives, including the identification of opportunities, and supporting new process/system changes.
- Provide support for audits (internal and external).
- Act as an operational point of contact for other finance teams for general business/operational VAT queries.
- Assist tax technology implementations and automations with our ERP and IT systems, to drive efficiency and improve end-to-end tax processes and controls.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in indirect tax compliance gained from working in-house or within a professional services firm (any management experience is desirable).
- Understanding of UK indirect tax principles and EU rules.
- Good proficiency in IT and Excel skills (any experience with using tax technology tools such as Alteryx is a plus).
- Experience in the digital economy and e-commerce would be an advantage.
- Expertise in international VAT across both B2C and B2B contexts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to deliver results in fast-paced and dynamic environments. A self-starter.
