Responsibilities:

  • The Europe Tax team is building to work with other corporate functions on tax advisory, planning, structuring, and tax controversy. We ensure compliance with direct (corporate income tax) and indirect tax and solve tax related issues.
  • TikTok is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Tax Manager to join the Tax team in London to support its rapid business growth in Europe.
  • The ideal candidate has experience in indirect tax compliance in the UK and the EU, possesses strong technical skills, and works seamlessly with colleagues in multiple departments (e.g. Legal, Finance) to develop comprehensive and practical tax solutions.
  • Experience in the taxation of the digital economy and e-Commerce is an advantage, adding valuable input on VAT in business projects across multiple jurisdictions in a high-paced environment.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business models and objectives, crafting VAT solutions that align with operational goals.
  • Define indirect tax requirements for existing and new programs/products, make relevant key decisions, and ensure practical implementation of these requirements in internal systems.
  • Develop and implement clear tax requirements while coordinating with cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive indirect tax strategies.
  • Research and keep abreast of European indirect tax developments, evaluate and decide on necessary business and process changes, develop and execute plans accordingly to ensure compliance with new tax rules and regulations.
  • Manage and oversee indirect tax projects and develop strategic and operational implementation work plans to ensure new service or country launches are tax compliant and timely.
  • Support engagements with external advisors, tax authorities, and government bodies.
  • Respond to ad hoc questions from cross functional team members on a wide range of issues.
  • Assist with tax technology implementations and automations with our ERP and IT systems, to drive efficiency and improve end-to-end tax processes and controls.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Qualification(s): 5+ years of relevant industry or professional consulting firm experience with professional tax qualification, chartered accountancy, or legal background. Expertise in international VAT across both B2C and B2B contexts. Strong communication abilities, with experience interfacing across all management levels. Proven ability to deliver results in fast-paced and dynamic environments. Self-starter.
  • Preferred Qualification(s): Good understanding of UK indirect tax principles and EU rules. Experience in technology, e-Commerce and/or electronically supplied services is well regarded.
