Team Introduction: The EMEA Tax team works with other corporate functions on tax compliance, advisory, planning, structuring, and tax controversy. We ensure compliance with direct and indirect taxes and solve tax related issues.

Position Summary: TikTok is seeking an enthusiastic Direct Tax Manager to join its Tax team in London and support its rapid business growth across Europe and Israel. The ideal candidate will have experience in direct tax compliance/advisory within Europe and Israel and possess strong organisational skills. Proven corporate tax knowledge across multiple countries, or the ability to apply strong technical knowledge gained in one country to others, is highly desirable for this new, regional role. They will collaborate with colleagues from multiple departments (e.g. Accounting, Legal, Transfer Pricing, Treasury, HR) to support our business in managing its tax obligations and implementing practical tax solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct Tax Returns, Provisioning and Payments: Responsible for data preparation and collation for tax filings across Europe and Israel. Review externally prepared returns for technical accuracy. Ensure timely filing of various direct tax returns (corporate tax, withholding tax, and other local business taxes). Support central tax reporting requirements and review workings for local tax accounting purposes. Responsible for arranging direct tax payments, forecasting and instalment calculations.
  • Tax Advisory and Projects: Provide technical input on cross‑border business initiatives, permanent establishment risk and structural changes. Provide support on other local tax projects (e.g. tax incentive applications, Pillar 2, DSTs).
  • Tax Business Partnering: Coordinate closely with Tax Business Partners globally, providing specialist local tax input from a technical and operational perspective.
  • Tax Legislation Monitoring: Monitor tax legislation changes and assess the implications to the group and ultimately suggest steps to manage those changes if applicable.
  • Tax Audit and Controversy: Manage communications with tax authorities and support external auditors by providing timely and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: At least 4 years in industry or a multinational accounting/professional consultancy firm.
  • Tax Expertise: Experience in both Europe and Israel direct tax compliance and advisory.
  • Languages: Fluent in Hebrew to communicate with internal and external stakeholders based in Israel (e.g. local tax authority) who may not speak English.
  • Project Management: Capable of owning projects and managing input from various tax vendors across Europe and Israel.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to build strong relationships with internal teams and vendors.
  • Independence and Adaptability: A self-starter, comfortable working independently in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment.
  • Learning Orientation: Passion for learning new tax concepts and conducting technical research.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Qualifications: Professional accountancy or tax qualifications such as ACA, CTA, or non‑UK equivalents.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in the TMT industry and related tax issues.
  • Accounting Knowledge: A good knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate analysis.
