Not every Early Years Practitioner enjoys working with babies. Some prefer toddlers. But if you are someone who genuinely loves nurturing babies and helping them feel safe, calm and understood, this role was designed with you in mind. We are looking for an experienced practitioner to join our baby room team, supporting children under two in a nursery known locally for its warm culture and strong reputation.

On an average day you will be caring for 5–10 babies, giving you the time and space to focus on what matters most. Responding to their needs, supporting early development, and creating a calm environment where babies feel secure. This is a nursery where care comes first. Babies are supported, soothed and nurtured. They are never expected to simply “get on with it”.

What your day might look like:

  • Comforting and settling babies as they arrive
  • Supporting feeding, sleep routines and hygiene
  • Sensory play and early development activities
  • Time outdoors in the nursery’s forest area, allowing even the youngest children to experience nature
  • Building strong relationships with parents and carers
  • Observing milestones and supporting each child’s individual development

Technology is used thoughtfully across the nursery to reduce paperwork and keep practitioners present with the children rather than tied to admin.

The environment:

The nursery is family‑run and values‑led, with a reputation locally for creating a nurturing and supportive environment. Learning across the setting is child‑led, and the approach to early years includes outdoor learning, yoga, sound baths and sensory exploration. For babies, this means a calm and responsive environment where their emotional wellbeing always comes first.

What we’re looking for:

  • Level 3 Early Years qualification or above
  • At least 2 years recent experience working with children under two (preferred)
  • A genuine passion for working with babies
  • A nurturing, patient and attentive approach
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Additional training such as baby first aid, infant nutrition or moving and handling of babies would be beneficial.

What you’ll receive:

  • Salary £27,200 – £32,000 depending on qualification and experience
  • Paid Christmas shutdown
  • Your birthday off
  • Weekly staff yoga and wellbeing initiatives
  • Seasonal socials and team events
  • On‑site parking
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Discounted gym and dental plans
  • Death in service cover

This role would suit someone who wants to specialise in working with babies and be part of a nursery where nurturing care is genuinely valued. If working with babies is where your skills and passion lie, we would love to hear from you.
