Are you an experienced field service professional ready to step into a leadership role? We’re looking for a Field Service Team Leader to support and guide a team of engineers across the South of the UK, ensuring high-quality service delivery and strong team performance.
This is a remote-based role with regular travel across the region and occasional visits to the company’s office in Sheffield to stay connected with the wider team.
The Role
As a Field Service Team Leader, you’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day running of field operations in your region. Acting as the key link between engineers, planners, and internal teams, your focus will be on supporting your team, solving problems in the field, and ensuring work is delivered safely and efficiently. You’ll play a hands-on leadership role—coaching engineers, managing workloads, and ensuring customers receive a reliable and professional service.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Support
- Lead, motivate, and support a team of field service engineers across the South
- Act as the first point of contact for engineers requiring technical or operational support
- Carry out regular 1-2-1s, on-site visits, and performance conversations
- Support onboarding, training, and development of new and existing team members
- Operational Delivery
- Work closely with planning teams to ensure effective scheduling and coverage
- Oversee day-to-day service activity, ensuring jobs are completed to a high standard
- Assist in resolving on-site issues, escalations, and customer concerns
- Ensure engineers are equipped, prepared, and supported to complete their work
- Health & Safety
- Promote a strong safety culture across the team
- Carry out site visits, safety checks, and toolbox talks
- Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures and best practices
- Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with customers through professional and responsive service
- Act as a point of escalation for service-related issues
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure smooth service delivery
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve ways of working, efficiency, and service quality
- Share feedback from the field to support operational improvements
- Encourage a proactive, solution-focused mindset within the team
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in a field service or engineering environment
- Previous experience leading or mentoring engineers (formal or informal leadership)
- Strong technical understanding of maintenance, service, and installation work
- A hands-on, supportive leadership style with a focus on team development
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Organised and adaptable, with the ability to manage a busy and varied workload
