The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) capabilities for equipment and systems throughout the project lifecycle. This includes support during project development, in-service support, pre-contract (bid) activities, and the production of support documentation for solutions deployed within the Naval, Surveillance, and Government sectors.
The role requires a motivated and proactive individual who can effectively plan and manage their own workload with minimal supervision. The position involves regular interaction with customers and stakeholders, requiring strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to engage confidently with individuals at all levels, including those for whom English may not be their first language.
Key Responsibilities- Integrated Logistics Support Activities
- Develop and deliver ILS capabilities across the business to provide a comprehensive range of support engineering services throughout the product lifecycle, including:
- Supportability Analysis
- Level of Repair Analysis (LORA)
- Spares Ranging and Scaling
- Whole Life Cost (WLC) Analysis
- Logistics Information Repository management and maintenance
- Obsolescence Analysis
- Business Development & Bid Support
- Support the growth of the ILS capability and generate additional revenue through the provision of ILS services.
- Assist the Bid Management team with cost estimates, proposals, and supporting documentation relating to ILS and training requirements.
- Contribute to the preparation and presentation of customer bids and proposals.
- Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies that support future ILS and technical publications requirements.
- Promote and support a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation.
- Take a proactive role in the growth and development of the business.
- Customer & Project Support
- Travel within the UK and internationally, when required, to support project delivery and customer requirements.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably associated with the role.
- Essential
- HNC qualification (or higher) in Electronic Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Demonstrable experience within Support Engineering and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS).
- Strong understanding and practical application of Def Stan 00-60 / Def Stan 00-600 and the Defence Logistics Framework (DLF), which supersedes JSP 886.
- Experience tailoring and applying supportability standards within defence programmes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong technical report writing and documentation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other standard engineering software tools.
- Ability to produce accurate, detailed, and professional technical proposals and specifications.
- Highly Desirable
- Experience with ASD S3000L and its application to supportability analysis programmes.
- Experience working within defence, naval, surveillance, or government sectors.
- Knowledge of logistics information repositories and supportability databases.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
