An amazing opportunity is available to join the brand new Tiffield Academy as part of our first team of Learning Support Assistants! Tiffield Academy, an all-through special free school for students who have severe learning difficulties (SLD) and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), opened its doors in September 2025 in a purpose-built new building and you could be part of this.
You will deliver high quality support for our young people and their families to ensure a fabulous experience at Tiffield Academy. This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to develop a wide range of skills whilst working in a friendly and supportive environment.
We’re looking for an exceptional Learning Support Assistant who:
- understands that all behaviour is communication
- is committed to supporting our pupils to communicate in a range of different ways
- has excellent communication skills and can work effectively as part of a team
- can use their initiative and professional curiosity when supporting children
- has great organisational skills
- has the ability to relate to and engage with a wide range of pupils
- has the ability to ensure high standards in terms of achievement and engagement
- has high aspirations for the children they are supporting

You will be joining a brand new team of passionate colleagues who strive to achieve the best outcomes for pupils in all aspects of their lives. Tiffield Academy is the newest addition to the special academy portfolio within the very successful Greenwood Academies Trust. The academy opened its doors in September 2025 and will be welcoming up to 140 students in its first year and growing to 230 students over subsequent years.
The purpose-built new building has been designed with the students’ needs at the forefront of everyone’s thoughts with good sized classrooms, quiet spaces for group work and calming spaces as well as sensory rooms. There will be dedicated rooms for Food Technology, Art and Science as well as workspaces for staff. Thought has been put into the exterior design too, including an outdoor games area, sensory garden and horticulture area planned.
