Senior / Principal Civil Design Engineers (Water) - North West / Various

We are recruiting multiple Principal Civil Design Engineers (Water), ideally with wastewater networks and/or clean water networks experience, for a variety of major long-term water industry frameworks across the UK. Under a 10-year framework with Tetra Tech and RPS, we will drive program optimisation, develop solutions, and select preferred options based on best value, lowest carbon, and cost. Our mission is to deliver exceptional water services to foster a resilient, eco-friendly, and thriving Northwest. The North West is the preferred location for these roles, but other locations may be considered.

About the team: We are a team of Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts providing Asset Management and Operational Strategy development to Water Industry clients. We support business planning and delivery across long-term framework agreements and AMP programmes. Our Water Consultancy business has a range of prestigious AMP8 programmes leading into AMP9 and beyond.

Responsibilities

• An ability to coordinate with other disciplines and liaise effectively with clients and suppliers.
• Run projects independently.
• Prepare conceptual, schematic, and detailed design of water and wastewater infrastructure assets including treatment works, pumping stations, sewers, and pumping mains.
• Prepare Appraisal Reports and Business Cases.
• Supervise Senior Engineers, Project Engineers, Graduate Engineers and Technicians.
• Prepare contract documentation for construction projects.
• Lead design team meetings and client liaison meetings as appropriate.
• Support large schemes and lead small schemes within the technical design team and provide technical guidance to water and wastewater project teams.
• Develop technical skills towards becoming an industry expert with training and support.
• Ensure efficient project delivery and support project managers.
• Operate in accordance with corporate and regulatory health and safety, environment, and quality standards.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

• Experience in wastewater or water infrastructure design or project management.
• Strong technical design experience on multi-disciplinary projects.
• Infrastructure civil engineering including drainage, site layout, and multi-disciplinary design leadership.
• Good communication skills and ability to engage with all members of the project team.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, sharing knowledge and best practice.
• Good understanding of CDM requirements.
• Proactive and keen to take ownership of client relationships and contribute to business growth.
• Motivation, influencing and people management skills to lead a team and develop engineers while continuing to develop your career.

Qualifications

• Preferably degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a relevant technical subject; postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
• Chartered or working towards chartership.
• Affiliation with a professional institution (IET, InstMC, CIWEM) or in the process of working towards membership.

Location and Availability

The North West is the preferred location, with consideration for other locations. Role may involve travel to various sites and frameworks across the UK.
