Registered Nurse – Gero Psych – Per Diem Department GEROPSYCH – 206063 Worker Sub Type Per Diem Work Shift First Shift (United States of America) Pay Grade 135 Job Description The registered professional nurse is responsible for utilizing their skills to effectively carry out the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation, and time management. They are responsible for quality communication, teamwork, and professionalism. Additionally, they direct, coordinate, and implement patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing. A Registered Nurse Per Diem (RN PD) cares for the assigned patient population. The role requires completing yearly mandatory competencies, unit-specific competencies as identified by the Director/Designee, and fulfilling the Professional Practice Ladder requirements, which include assuming responsibility as Charge Nurse, participating in PI activities and department initiatives, and engaging in educational activities such as seminars, conferences, workshops, or reading nursing articles. A portfolio must be current and submitted annually by March 1st. The RN PD routinely solicits and validates patient/family satisfaction, participates in peer review, and develops educational bulletin boards or posters for staff and patients. Qualifications Associates Degree in Nursing (RN Diploma, ASN, or ADN) required Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred Two years of RN experience required RN License required BLS Certification (American Heart Association Healthcare Provider) required Relevant Specialty Certification preferred Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in Virginia, with either a multi-state license under the Nurse Licensure Compact or a single-state license valid in Virginia Additional Requirements New hires must have AHA appropriate certification prior to orientation. For Virginia residents or non-Compact state residents, an eligibility to test letter from the Virginia Board of Nursing is required. If residing in a Compact state other than Virginia, a multi-state license must be secured before employment.
