About The Client
Our client is a respected national construction and development company with a growing in-house planning team delivering high-quality schemes across the UK. Their work spans residential, mixed-use and increasingly, renewable energy developments. As part of their continued expansion, they are now seeking a Principal Town Planner to join their Bristol office and take a lead role in planning strategy and project delivery across the South West.

The Principal Town Planner Role
As Principal Town Planner, you\’ll manage a range of planning applications, appraisals and appeals across residential, mixed-use and renewables projects. You\’ll work closely with land, design, and construction teams, coordinate with external consultants, and engage directly with local planning authorities. You\’ll also support junior team members and help shape planning strategy in the South West. The role includes growing involvement in renewables-supporting planning for solar and other energy infrastructure schemes alongside more traditional development projects.
Principal Town Planner Essential Skills
- MRTPI qualified, or working towards
- Strong experience in residential and/or mixed-use development
- Interest or experience in renewable energy projects is desirable
- Solid background in consultancy, developer, or local authority roles
- Excellent communication, report writing and client engagement skills
- Deep understanding of the English planning system
- Organised, commercially minded, and proactive
