Where will you be working?At M Group Energy, we\’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Electricity Transmission team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity. You\’ll be working on sites across South West England and South Wales ; a full UK driving licence is essential!
What will you be doing?As a Principal Contractor Site Manager (M&E) , you\’ll be part of delivering projects for National Grid and private generation companies, ranging from 66kV to 400kV. Reporting to a Construction Manager, you\’ll coordinate and supervise construction activities on site from commencement of the project through to final commissioning and completion, whilst acting as the principal site contact for the client.
Development and implementation of Safety documentation including Construction Phase plans, site quality plans and Risk Assessments / Method Statements.
Sensible monitoring of site operatives and subcontractors regarding Health and Safety, Quality and Environment.
Identify training requirements for site personnel.
Ensure full compliance with all Morrison procedures and current legislation.
Client liaison whilst on site, including client audits.
Chairing weekly coordination meetings.
Procurement of materials.
Planning and programming of current and future works, i.e. rolling programmes.
Notify the Construction/Project manager of possible variations and keep suitable contemporary records.
Compilation of documents and as-built drawings for Handover files.
What You\’ll Bring
An extensive knowledge of construction methodologies within the Electricity Transmission industry with competency to work in Substations up to 400kV
Knowledge of NEC contracts & Cost / Value reporting
Knowledge of current legislation relating to HSE
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to work within budget and to programme timescales
Ability to work in a team environment with clients, designers, H&S Advisers, site staff, quantity surveyors and estimators
IT literate, specifically in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
Full Driving Licence and happy to travel / work away where required
Qualified to a suitable level in Construction, Mechanical Engineering or an Electrical Engineering discipline
Previous or current authorisation to National Grid TP 137.11 / SR163
