Were on the hunt for an experienced, M&E Quantity Surveyor to join a high-performing project team in Hull. This isnt your average QS roleyoull be driving cost strategy on a complex, £50m+ project in the advanced manufacturing and life sciences sector. If youve got sharp commercial instincts, contract confidence, and a love for spreadsheets (and maybe a bit of sarcasm), read on.
The Role
Youll take the reins on end-to-end cost managementbudgeting, forecasting, contract wrangling, and making sure everything adds up (literally). Working closely with the Regional Commercial Lead, youll steer supply chain selection (hello local SMEs!), manage JCT D&B contracts, and be the calm voice in a sea of cost reports, risk registers, and change controls.
Oh, and youll be mentoring junior team members toobecause greatness should be shared.
What Youll Be Doing
Cost Management Cost plans, CVRs, forecasts. Youll keep budgets on track and surprises to a minimum.
Subcontractor Evaluation Support package procurement and squeeze value from every pound spent.
Risk & Change Control Maintain the risk register, handle project changes, and keep everyone honest.
Contract Admin NEC, JCT, or whatever acronym the client throwsreview, negotiate, and manage.
Supply Chain Management Prequal, procure, and partner with local, reliable subcontractors.
Collaboration Work closely with project leads and clients to deliver smoothly and smartly.
Youll Excel In This Role If You
Have a degree in Quantity Surveying or similar (extra credit for RICS/CIOB letters after your name)
Know your way around JCT D&B and NEC contracts like the back of your hand
Have solid M&E experience and can read BIM models like bedtime stories
Enjoy mentoring and bringing others up with you
Are fluent in Excel and can hold your own in SAP, COINS, ORACLE, CostX, Bluebeam, or PowerBI
Can spot a contractual loophole faster than a lawyer on a deadline
