The purpose of this role is to supervise the operations through effective day-to-day management and engagement of transport colleagues within RTS Kineton & Gosport. To ensure that safety, compliance, service and cost are competently controlled. The role holder is responsible for creating a positive working environment that supports the delivery of the operation, maintains legal & safety compliance at all times, and meets any JSP/Civil authority regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for taking reasonable care of the Health and Safety of myself and others who may be affected by my acts or omissions at work to observe best practice and compliance with legislation in the protection of the environment and conservation of energy.
  • Conduct regular health & safety, quality and environment (QSHE) checks/audits in your work environment.
  • Ensure all visitors and driver colleagues understand their role & responsibilities under the site and KN safety policies.
  • Complete all safety training requirements for role. Proactively champion a culture of health & safety, colleague wellbeing, care and an environmentally friendly workplace.
  • Work with the Transport manager to ensure all driver colleagues in the team have received relevant training and all safety equipment is fit for purpose.
  • Conduct colleague safety observations and hazard reporting. Promptly respond to any safety concerns, unsafe acts and near miss reports raised by employees.
  • Ensure all colleagues use PPE as per the intended use. Conduct and record three monthly checks on condition and standard of PPE. Arrange for replacement PPE when condition is below the acceptable standard.
  • Conduct on site assurance checks, safety Observations, communicate safety Tool Box Briefs (TBB) and provide positive feedback to driver colleagues, to improve the safety culture.
  • Directly supervise a team of driver colleagues and report directly to your Line Manager. Effectively cascade company and site information by engaging on site and remote driver colleagues, ensuring that within the team they feel valued and engaged.

  • Knowledge of quality, health, safety and environment (QSHE) requirements.
  • Experience within an operations environment that demonstrates the capability to build, lead, supervise and motivate a team.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal at all levels.
  • Affective Decision making.
  • Demonstrating leadership and team player skills.
  • Experience of supervising a transport operating with specific reference to the movement of Class 1 to 9.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Good customer service attitude and approach.
  • Results orientated, willing to take ownership for setting and achieving high standards and targets.
  • Preferable to hold a Manager CPC National Road Haulage Certificate.
