Location: Orkney, KW15 1NU | Salary: £15.70 per hour (comprising £12.60 base rate plus £3.10 Orkney Island Supplement) | Contract & Hours: Part- or Full-time, including flexible working.
Enable creates a bespoke team around every individual we support, and our team of Personal Assistants work collaboratively to ensure the safety, wellbeing and aspirations of the people we support are met.
Heidi's support is based in Kirkwall and is within walking distance of all amenities. Heidi is looking to transition from her current living setup into her new home and she is looking for Personal Assistants (Support Workers) to support her to make this transition successful. We are looking for a bespoke team so that Heidi receives person-centred support with the right personal assistants that share similar interests and outlooks on life. Heidi is looking for outgoing personal assistants who can support her everyday hobbies, including watching TV shows and playing mathematically based games. She enjoys events, cafes, and social activities and aims to build her social skills and confidence in social settings in the community. She also enjoys sensory experiences and visiting the local library. Heidi's support is delivered as part of a team in Kirkwall.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a close team of support workers to provide safe, high-quality care and support to Heidi, helping her achieve her goals and live her best life.
- Provide person-centred support with activities linked to Heidi's interests and routines, including enjoying TV shows and maths-based games, going to local cafes, historical sites and events, and library visits.
- Facilitate Heidi's social skills development and confidence in social settings within the community; support sensory experiences.
- Support Heidi through her transition to a new home, ensuring continuity of care and communication with the rest of the team.
- Shift patterns across 13 services; Heidi's shifts are typically 9:00–15:00, 9:00–21:00, and overnight; flexible hours to accommodate childcare and other commitments.
About You
- No prior care experience required; we recruit based on values and transferable skills.
- Desire to support Heidi to get the most out of life; committed, dedicated and aligned with Enable's values toward creating an equal society for people with learning disabilities.
- Ability to work as part of a team; reliable, adaptable and respectful; good communication skills.
- Must register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 3 months of start date.
