Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an IoT Test Engineer to join a high-tech company specialising in the development of innovative connected solutions for the health and social care sectors. As a market leader in social alarms, wireless nurse call, and door entry systems, they supply products across the UK and international markets.

They are looking for a Product Development Test Engineer to ensure their products meet the highest quality standards and customer needs. The successful candidate will work alongside a team of multi-skilled engineers, gaining access to training, mentorship, and career development opportunities.

Key Duties

1. Develop and implement test plans, procedures, and protocols to assess product performance, reliability, and quality.
2. Work closely with the product development team to align test plans with product specifications.
3. Conduct functional and reliability tests on prototypes and finished products.
4. Analyse test data to ensure compliance with design and industry standards.
5. Design and implement automated testing solutions to improve test efficiency and consistency.
6. Use test management software to create automated test systems in conjunction with custom hardware.
7. Contribute to risk assessments and mitigation strategies during product testing and validation.
8. Identify potential failure modes and their impact on product performance.
9. Work with cross-functional teams to ensure firmware meets product requirements and constraints.
10. Provide technical support to other team members.

Key Competencies & Skills

1. Bachelor’s degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering.
2. 2+ years of C programming experience.
3. Strong understanding of embedded firmware development.
4. Experience in troubleshooting embedded systems and peripherals.
5. Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
6. Ability to work autonomously when required.
7. Self-motivated and able to manage fast-moving, varied workloads.
8. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex situations and make well-considered decisions.

Desirable Skills

1. Experience with TCP/IP & Networking.
2. Knowledge of LabView/TestStand or equivalent software.
