Core subject teaching (Maths, English, or Science) for young people with SEND, SEMH, and other Additional Educational Needs is required in West Sussex. Multiple positions are available and hiring is ongoing to meet the needs we support. Targeted Provision’s mission is to transform the quality of education offered to vulnerable learners, and our SEN / SEND Support Specialists back each placement to help you succeed. This role is ideal for qualified SEN / SEND teachers who want 1:1 tutoring in a creative, flexible, holistic, and trauma-informed manner to engage students and improve their educational journey.

The SEN / SEND Tutor role:

  • Provide Maths, English, or Science tuition to young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD/SLD, or other Additional Educational Needs referred to Targeted Provision
  • Participants are referred by local authorities and schools and will require support in their educational and social-emotional journey
  • Deliver flexible, holistic, trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring

SEN / SEND Tutor tasks and responsibilities:

  • Plan each tutoring/mentoring session
  • Provide holistic, engaging sessions that meet needs and progress educational and social-emotional development
  • Complete lesson reports and provide feedback on progress

SEN / SEND Tutor requirements:

  • Professional Teaching Qualifications (QTS / QTLS)
  • Minimum 2 years teaching experience
  • Experience with SEND, SEMH, MLD/SLD, or other Additional Educational Needs
  • Knowledge of safeguarding processes
  • Enhanced DBS (we can assist with cost)
  • Two professional references
  • Based in the UK with the right to work, including for remote work

It is a strict requirement that you promote the health, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people and follow safeguarding policies at all times.

SEN / SEND Tutor employment status:

  • Engagement as a Worker for short-term engagements
  • Contract for service with PAYE payment
  • No fixed amount of work or expenses coverage
  • Insurance covers work performed for us
  • Not a self-employed tutoring/teaching position
