Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) — Northampton, United Kingdom — Full-Time | Permanent

TieTalent is recruiting on behalf of a nurturing and forward-thinking special school committed to supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including those who present with challenging behaviours. The school is seeking a dedicated HLTA to join their team and help improve outcomes for their pupils.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support learning activities across the school under the guidance of teaching staff
  • Deliver planned lessons and interventions to individuals and small groups
  • Support pupils in managing their behaviour using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches
  • Contribute to the planning, assessment, and review process
  • Act as a role model, coach, and mentor to both pupils and junior support staff
  • Support the development of pupils\’ social and emotional skills through positive relationships and consistent boundaries

Qualifications and requirements

The successful candidate will hold HLTA status or an equivalent qualification (or be working towards it) and have substantial experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour. They should demonstrate a calm, compassionate, and consistent approach and be able to think creatively, work flexibly, and remain resilient under pressure.

Additional information

All candidates who register with Simply Education are required to provide references for the previous 2 years of work, as well as complete an enhanced DBS check. All interviews will be conducted over a Teams call.
