As a Preventative Maintenance Engineer, you will work in conjunction with the controller to maximise the operational availability of equipment for the customer through timely and efficient routine and preventative maintenance servicing and machine inspections. Identify possible issues which may impact availability and be tasked with carrying out minor repairs as requested. You will be an ambassador for safety, servicing products in a manner which promotes safety for self and customer.

Major Job Functions:
- Preventative Maintenance Servicing: carrying out routine servicing of equipment in line with manufacturers guidelines, taking routine oil samples (75%)
- Machine Inspection: visual/mechanical analysis of machine condition highlighting developing issues with systems and components including hydraulic, electrical, powertrain, mechanical (20%)
- Minor Repairs: complete minor repairs as identified during machine inspection, install telematic systems, carry out undercarriage inspections (5%)

Responsibilities and Requirements:
- Field-based role requiring that drivers hold a full driving licence for 2 years (DVLA check applies)
- Working Hours: 43 hours per week (flexible start/finish times). Monday – Friday with 1 Saturday in 3 at overtime rate
- Maintenance and servicing to manufacturer recommendations with accurate paperwork and customer signatures
- Liaise with service controller and customer at the outset and during work progress
Skills and Experience:
The role requires basic knowledge of Engines, Hydraulics, Powertrain, and Vehicle Electrics/Electronics related to servicing and repair of heavy mobile plant (or similar, e.g., HGV, or former REME/military vehicles). Education and Experience: around 3 years direct experience or related engineering function or formal apprenticeship with at least C&G level 1; health & safety training desirable but not essential as further training will be provided.
Accountability:
Attend customer locations as advised, ensure work is carried out to high standards and equipment is safe before handing back to the customer. Complete all paperwork accurately and in a timely manner, and take proper care of company vehicle and equipment.
