OverviewStopford has an opportunity for an EC&I Designer to join the team to work with highly skilled professionals who are constantly striving to deliver excellence and best practice on technically innovative multimillion-pound environmental and energy projects. You will be based at our Knutsford office with hybrid working. There may be occasional travel to other offices and client sites. This is a full-time permanent position and in return you will receive a competitive salary.

EC&I Designer roleReporting to the Lead EC&I (Electrical, Control and Instrumentation) Engineer, the EC&I Designer will liaise closely with multiple engineering disciplines, designers and draughtspersons within the projects group in delivering assigned tasks. The EC&I Designer will be experienced in FEED, detail design and construction support.

Key Responsibilities

Ensuring the Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Deliverables produced as per Stopford\’s quality management system and procedure.

Creating Block Cable Diagrams.

Developing Single Line Diagrams.

Designing instrument loops and hook-ups.

Generating Termination Drawings.

Creating Control System Sequence Drawings.

Producing General Arrangements and layout drawings.

Designing Electrical Power Distribution.

Developing Control Systems.

Inputting to P&ID\’s and EC&I Schedules (Cable, Instrument, JB, Equipment etc).

Reviewing and validating drawings and documents.

Addressing EMC considerations (e.g., cable segregation, Faraday principle).

Collaborating with other engineering disciplines.

Role requirements

Qualification in Instrument, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, with design delivery experience.

Excellent working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD.

Experience working for petrochemicals, Chemicals, or energy industries.

Experience of working in a design and engineering environment.

Experience of co-working with different discipline designers and engineers.

Ability to deliver to relevant standards, codes and regulations.

Working knowledge of BS7671, Electricity at work regulation.

Experience of space management, cable routing and cable management.

Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with the design of a broad range of EC&I building services, including HV and LV electrical distribution.

3D AutoCAD / Plant 3D knowledge would be beneficial.

Must be eligible to live and work in the UK.

Security clearanceThe successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain security clearance of at least Security Check level (SC clearance) for this role.
