Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:00am - 5:00pm & Friday 8:00am - 2:00pm

With a large manufacturing capacity, it is the job of the Quality Engineer to ensure that the work that goes through our doors is up to the standards of all of our customers.

About the Role:

The WEC Group are currently hiring for a Quality Engineer for our Laser Engineering division based in Darwen, Lancashire.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Raising Nonconformance reports to ensure all corrective & preventative actions are put in place (Training Provided)
  • Conducting regular inspections of Laser cutting, Press brake and Welding work to ensure they are up to Quality Standards
  • Reading engineering drawings to be able to do said inspections and liaise with operators and design team on the drawings
  • Liaising with customers about Inspection reports and NCRs in a professional and timely manner and overall maintaining good communication with customers
  • Working within a Sub-contract fabrication environment
  • Problem solving general issues that come up within manufacturing
  • Updating our database on the computer using a range of Microsoft packages (Work, Excel and Office)
  • Work collaboratively with the Quality Manager to uphold and enhance quality standards across production.
  • Act as the first point of contact for customer quality-related enquiries, addressing concerns, investigating issues, and managing resolution processes.
  • Provide hands-on support on the shop floor, ensuring quality processes are followed throughout all stages of production.

About you:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have come from a shopfloor background (ideally in Laser Cutting, Press Braking or Fabrication)
  • Have some experience dealing with Quality and Inspection work
  • Have strong verbal communication skills; comfortable liaising with customers via phone and in person.
  • Be Computer literate, with solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and database systems.
  • Have the ability to work independently and as part of a team in both office and shop floor settings (approximately 50/50 split).

Please note that due to the nature of the role, no sponsorship or relocation packages will be available for this position so all candidates must be eligible to both live and work in the UK to be considered.

Candidates with experience of; Quality Assurance Specialist, Process Improvement Engineer, Quality Systems Engineer, Manufacturing Quality Analyst, Laser Engineering Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Quality Engineer and Product Compliance Engineer may also be considered.
