Locum Consultant in Haematology

Location: Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen, Wales

Shifts: 09:00am – 17:00pm, Monday to Friday; on-call 1:5

Rates: £110 - £125 per hour (PAYE)

Client: Hywel Dda University Health Board

Main Duties / Responsibilities

  • Provide diagnosis, screening, treatment, preoperative, operative and postoperative patient care.
  • Actively support patients and families; communicate clinical information to explain diagnoses and treatment options.
  • Coordinate treatment plans and prescribe various types of treatment; monitor patient progress.
  • Communicate with patients and the multidisciplinary team to support shared decision making.
  • Work in, and where appropriate lead, a multidisciplinary team.
  • Assess and prioritise patient requirements and delegate effectively to others.
  • Recognise, review, and report changes in a patient’s condition to the team.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as recording test results, writing prescriptions, and monitoring treatment plans.
  • Contribute to research to develop and test techniques and equipment to improve procedures and outcomes.
  • Teach and train junior doctors, medical students, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

  • GMC registered Doctor with license to practice (not required to be on the Specialist Register).
  • Relevant experience at Consultant level, or references supporting progression to Consultant level.
  • Ideally NHS experience.
  • Right to Work in the UK (no visa sponsorship for locum roles).
  • Enhanced DBS check required.
