Regional Business Development Manager – North West of England

Location: Field-Based

Job Overview:

On behalf of our client we are seeking a highly motivated and strategic Regional Business Development Manager to drive growth and expand their market presence across the North West of England. This role is pivotal in identifying new business opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and implementing effective sales strategies to enhance revenue and market share.

The successful candidate will be an influential leader with a strong commercial mindset and a proven track record in business development, ideally within the water sector, construction, infrastructure, or related industries and will be rewarded by a great salary, bonus, car and company benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development & Growth

  • Develop and execute a regional business development strategy aligned with company objectives.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities while expanding relationships with existing clients.
  • Drive revenue growth by delivering tailored solutions to key industry sectors, including water, rail, highways, and construction.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities to inform strategic decisions.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to increase brand awareness and generate leads.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Establish and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, stakeholders, and industry partners.
  • Act as a key point of contact for regional customers, ensuring a high level of service and satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure seamless project execution and client satisfaction.

Sales Strategy & Performance Management:

  • Develop tailored sales proposals, negotiate contracts, and close deals that align with business objectives.
  • Manage the commercial performance of quotes, pricing structures, and agreements to maximise profitability.
  • Track and analyse sales performance data to identify opportunities for improvement and drive strategic decision-making.

Collaboration & Leadership:

  • Work closely with the marketing and operations teams to align sales efforts with promotional campaigns and service offerings.
  • Share insights and best practices with other regional managers to contribute to a cohesive national strategy.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior team members, fostering a high-performance sales culture.

Requirements:

Experience & Industry Knowledge

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related commercial role.
  • Proven track record in B2B sales, ideally within the water sector, construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure industries.
  • Strong understanding of technical sales, contract negotiations, and relationship management.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels, from site teams to senior decision-makers.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
