Tier Environmental Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer to join our expanding consultancy. The position is primarily based at our Chester Office but will also require a willingness to travel.

The successful candidate will form part of a team of engineers, geologists and environmental scientists who are part of the larger Tier engineering group of civil and structural engineers. We specialise in identifying, quantifying and reducing abnormal costs to developments at an early stage and provide effective holistic solutions for a range of geotechnical, environmental and waste management issues for both commercial and private clients.

The successful candidate should have at least 5 years relevant post‑graduate experience and should be able to demonstrate a proven track record relating to the management and reporting of contaminated land, geotechnical and civil engineering site investigations. Knowledge and/or experience of earthworks, remediation and verification work will also be beneficial. A relevant Masters degree may be beneficial either within geological or environmental science disciplines.

Responsibilities:

  • Writing of Phase 1 and Phase 2 reports.
  • Design, set up and management of site investigations, including logging of soils and rocks.
  • Management of site‑based sub‑contractors.
  • Recording and interpretation of site data.
  • Scheduling of chemical and geotechnical testing.
  • Preparation of generic and site‑specific health and safety risk assessments.
  • Provide support to junior staff within the region.

The ideal candidate should have experience with the use of borehole software such as Holebase, Openground, or AGS and have excellent MS Word and Excel skills, as well as a basic knowledge of CAD. As the role will involve both client and regulator liaison, strong communication and report writing skills will be required. This role is ideal for a Geoenvironmental Engineer looking to take the next step in their career. Applicants should have membership of a professional organisation such as the Geological Society or CIWEM, ideally working towards Chartered Status.

This is a permanent position with a company vehicle and other benefits. Due to the nature of the interview process, candidates should be residing in the UK. Salary is negotiable. Tier Environmental Ltd also operates a discretionary bonus scheme.
