Location: 4535 E Princess Anne Rd, Norfolk, VA 23502
Compensation: Up to $45.67/hour + $2500 Sign-On Bonus
Schedule: Monday - Thursday: ability to work up to 10:30 PM. This schedule will change based on student testing availability.
Position Purpose: The Certified Welding Inspector is responsible for overseeing the testing facility and testing processes. Responsibilities also include the implementation of all Certified Welding requirements and maintain the institution’s American Welding (AWS) accreditation as certified Accredited Testing Facility (ATF).
Key Duties and Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure AWS testing requirements are current with AWS and institutional accreditation standards.
- Oversee inventory of department equipment and supplies, submit requests for purchases and replenish supplies as needed.
- Attend and conduct in-service training and seminars as required.
- Advise students regarding testing competencies.
- Conduct site visits if applicable for other sister campuses in preparation of AWS ATF site visit to provide guidance as needed.
- Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED, or equitable on the job experience.
- Minimum of (3) years hands on experience in Welding.
- Must have supervisory experience.
- Previous classroom/laboratory instructor experience.
- Demonstrate up-to-date knowledge and continue studying the subject matter.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven, compliance-oriented educational environment.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, highly organized, and can multi-task and work well under pressure.
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity, strong work ethic, and professionalism.
- Persuasive and effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service in an educational setting.
- Highly motivated and goal-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to work independently and as a collaborative team member and have exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Excellent computer skills are required with proficiency in MS Office applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams. CampusNexus experience a plus.
- Exhibits a positive, team-oriented attitude by remaining flexible and available to work outside of scheduled hours when needed, as directed by the Supervisor.
- Ability and willingness to travel locally or overnight for business purposes.
Certificates:
- Current American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector certification.
- OSHA standard 10 training certification within 6 months of hire date.
