The Role

Working as part of the UK Crewing Team, this pro-active role is responsible for crew rotation on allocated vessels. Looking after all aspects of the crew employee life cycle, the role advises on recruitment, transfers, employee development & training and promotions. There is also the opportunity to be involved in our industry leading Cadet Seafarer programmes and study leave programme.

Base Location

This role will work from our Aberdeen city centre office, which has excellent transport links.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist and advise the Crewing Manager and Operations Team on crewing matters such as recruitment, transfer, and promotion of employees to ensure that the vessels operate in a cost-effective manner and effective handover/familiarization periods are completed.
  • Identify areas for improvement and provide creative solutions to maximise efficiency and operational effectiveness.
  • Proactively address operational issues that arise across UK vessels, providing timely solutions for approval by Crewing Manager, before implementing.
  • Lead the team in the delivery of crewing best practice
  • Develop relationships with peers across the region to enhance collaboration, share best practice and improve operational consistency.
  • Track crewing KPI’s and produce KPI slides for monthly Management meetings.
  • Proactively recruit substitutes and propose candidates for any vacant positions.
  • Take ownership of crewing new builds coming into the fleet.
  • Advise Masters, Crewing Manager and Operations / Technical Teams on any deviation to procedures or processes.
  • Manage sick-leave absence on allocated vessels in cooperation with the Master.
  • Ensure courses are up to date and to approve seafarer competency on allocated vessels.
  • Assist Master in travel arrangements for crew change in accordance with the travel budget and report on any deviation.
  • Support monthly payroll processing, producing and checking accurate information.
  • Cover out of hours on call, 1 week in every 3.

Skills, knowledge and qualifications

  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Highly self-motivated.
  • Ability to work independently as well as contribute to a team environment
  • Minimum 1 – 3 years’ experience from a similar or closely related position, preferably from the shipping or offshore industry.
  • Experience in HR processes is an advantage.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative and communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, perform detailed execution of tasks and adapt to a changing environment.
