James Gillespie's High School is looking to recruit a part-time Teacher of English on a fixed term contract to 18 December 2026. The salary ranges from £36,159 to £54,453 (pro rata for part time) for 22.48 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, working Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

- A main teaching block (Malala Building)

- Further teaching accommodation in our Grade 1 listed building, Bruntsfield House
- Warrender building and an annexe (Darroch) at Gillespie Street
We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic and have demonstrated contributions to department and whole school activities in previous posts.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. An Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required for individuals who have spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outwith the UK in the last 5 years.
Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
