A newly created role in a scaling, founder-led consumer business operating 35+ retail stores and a fast-growing e-commerce platform. Reporting into the Fractional Head of Finance, you will build and run the company’s commercial insight, forecasting and analytical capability from the ground up; partnering across retail, procurement, inventory, e-commerce and operations to sharpen decision-making on pricing, promotions, customer profitability and store performance.

This is not a traditional back-office finance role. We are looking for a commercially minded operator who can turn financial and operational data into fast, actionable insights that improve growth, margin, inventory efficiency and business performance. The role suits someone who thrives in a fast-moving, founder-led environment where speed, accountability and commercial thinking are valued over bureaucracy.

Key responsibilities:
  • Own the annual operating plans (AOP), and the long-range planning models across revenue, gross profit and operating expenses.
  • Act as lead finance business partner to store operations, purchasing, e-commerce, inventory, real estate, HR and other functions.
  • Track commercial and financial KPIs; analyse risks and opportunities and turn them into actions.
  • Own the 13-week cash forecast and conduct quarterly supplier spend reviews with Procurement.
  • Own pricing governance: building, maintaining and enforcing the pricing policy and supporting revenue management decisions.
  • Perform competitor analysis and market monitoring to surface risks and opportunities.
  • Support investment appraisals, new initiatives and special projects for the senior leadership team.
  • Produce month-end reporting packs for the management team in collaboration with the accounting team.
  • Own inventory and working capital analytics, including stock ageing, stock turns, category profitability and forecasting accuracy.
  • Build commercial scorecards and dashboards that give leadership real-time visibility into sales, margin, inventory and operational performance.
  • Partner with procurement and operations teams to improve margin protection, stock allocation and cash efficiency.
  • Translate complex financial and operational information into simple, decision-ready insights for founders and senior leadership.
About you:
  • Degree educated; a qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA or ACA) highly desirable.
  • Significant FP&A experience, ideally in a multi-site retail or consumer business, with exposure to pricing, revenue management or commercial strategy.
  • Strong financial modelling skills; able to translate data into clear, actionable insights and polished reporting packs.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder-influencing skills.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and a fast-changing environment; proactive, accountable and commercially minded.
  • Strong commercial instinct and ability to operate at pace in a scaling founder-led environment.
  • Experience working with inventory-heavy, fast-moving or consumer-led businesses is highly advantageous.
  • Ability to challenge assumptions, simplify complexity and improve decision-making across the business.
What’s on offer:
  • Competitive base salary.
  • Performance-led bonus.
  • Hybrid working (3 days in the Southampton/Eastleigh office). Fully on-site during the induction period.
  • Opportunity to help shape the finance and commercial operating model of a rapidly scaling business.
  • Pay: £60,000.00-£75,000.00 per year.
