Overview of the Role: The role is within the Power Hedging & Origination team of Nuveen Infrastructure Clean Energy. With a portfolio continuously experiencing increased exposure to power markets and underlying risks, Nuveen is looking to expand its capabilities in evaluating and managing energy risks, with the ultimate objective of securing revenues. The role reports to the Head of Power Hedging & Origination and will be FCA regulated. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to execute long and short‑term hedges and structure the revenue management of Nuveen's portfolio, navigating amongst multiple renewable technologies (including BESS) in more than 10 power markets. The individual will be involved in originating and structuring Power Hedges, managing relationships with key corporate and utility offtakers, hedging environmental attributes, negotiating Route‑to‑Market agreements, as well as building a diversified energy portfolio from a risk perspective.
Key Responsibilities:
- Originate, structure and execute hedges for assets under management
- Manage reporting and quantitative tools (ETRM, portfolio risk management)
- Support Investment Team with due diligence reviews on offtake structures
- Manage relationship with key offtakers and market access providers
- Participate in BESS revenue model definition and execution
- Negotiate Route‑to‑Market agreements for operational and to‑be‑built assets
- Build a diversified energy portfolio from a risk perspective
- Act as decision‑maker with respect to assessing market conditions at the timing of execution of portfolio management decisions taken by the investment committee in relation to power price hedging
- Conduct all communication with counterparties when arranging hedges
- Receive and integrate knowledge transfer from subject matter experts
- Produce and disseminate power markets and renewable energy analytics
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, or similar fields or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- IMC or CFA qualification
- 5+ years of renewable asset‑backed trading or portfolio management at a utility, bank, fund or trading house
- Good knowledge of global power markets and embedded risks
- Experience in originating and structuring PPAs
- Fluency in at least one European language, as well as English, is an advantage

Additional Information:
This role requires CertifiedStaff - UK regulatory designation and will require the person to have at least IMC or CFA qualifications. This role is subject to regulatory oversight with respect to trading activities and market interactions. The role is based in London and is required to meet the regulatory substance requirements associated with operating the GAML/NIMIL power price hedging desk. The role holder must be an authorised person and, where relevant, will be required to chaperone colleagues based in unregulated entities whenever those colleagues need to meet or communicate with clients, market participants, or investors. All regulated activities — including portfolio management decisions and communication with counterparties when arranging hedges — are reserved to this role.
